VOULKOS, Angeline P. Papastamatiou, 100, of Wheeling, WV, died Monday March 1, 2004 in Bishop Joseph H. Hodges Continuous Care Center. She was born January 12, 1904 in Samos, Greece, and emigrated to Wheeling in 1926. She was a member of St. John The Divine Greek Orthodox Church, Wheeling, a charter member of the Daughters of Penelope, and a member of the Philopthochos Society of Ariti. She is preceded in death by her husband, Nick Vaulkos in 1965, two sisters, Matrona Spanos and Stella Otis, two brothers, Basil Papastamatiou and Arch Bishop Claudius of Pella in Jerusalem. Surviving is her niece, Vangie Kellas of Wheeling; a nephew, John Papastamatiou and his wife Merrope of Athens, Greece; two great nephews, George M. Kellas II and his wife Sherrie of Wheeling; Basis Papastamatiou and his wife Crystal of Athens; great nephews and niece, George M. Kellas III, Marione Papastamatiou, Maxwell James Kellas and Lydia Marie Kellas.
Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Wednesday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff St., Wheeling where Trisagion services will be held at 7:30 pm. Friends then received 10:00am until time of the funeral service at 11:00am at the St. John The Divine Greek Orthodox Church, 2215 Chapline St., Wheeling, with Fr. Spiro W. Kehayes officiating. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
