Angeline P. Papastamatiou Voulkos, 100, of Wheeling, WV, died Monday, March 1, 2004 in the Bishop Joseph H. Hodges Continuous Care Center.
She was born January 12, 1904 in Samos Greece, and emigrated to Wheeling in 1926. She was a member of St. John The Divine Greek Orthodox Church, Wheeling; a charter member of the Daughters of Penelope; and a member of the Philopthochos Society of Ariti.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick Voulkos in 1965; two sisters, Matrona Spanos and Stella Otis; and two brothers, Basil Papastamatiou and Arch Bishop Claudius of Pella in Jerusalem.
Surviving are her niece, Vangie Kellas of Wheeling; a nephew, John Papastamatiou and his wife, Merrope of Athens, Greece; two great-nephews, George M. Kellas II and his wife, Sherrie of Wheeling and Basil Papastamatiou and his wife, Crystal, of Athens; and great-great nephews and niece, George M. Kellas III, Marione Papastamatiou, Maxwell James Kellas and Lydia Marie Kellas.
Friends received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger St., Elm Grove, Wheeling where Trisagion services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Friends then received from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. John The Divine Greek Orthodox Church, 2215 Chapline Steet, Wheeling with Fr. Spiro W. Kehayes officiating. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
