Alice Medlin Boyce

Norfolk- Alice Medlin Boyce, 82, beloved wife and mother died July 25th at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She was born January 9, 1927 in Union County, North Carolina.

She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Othus J. Boyce and was preceded in death by her son, James Clyde Boyce; her parents George Clyde Medlin and Lucinda Medlin, and was the last remaining sibling of 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Alice was a member of Tidewater Primitive Baptist Church and Ballentine Garden Club and loved plants and flowers with roses being among her most favorite.

She is also survived by her son, Michael Charles Boyce of Virginia Beach, VA; a daughter and son-in-law Jim and Sandi Richards of Missouri. She adored her grandchildren Jody Boyce and his wife Jay of Washington State, Helen Marie Mayfield and her husband Lt. Ronnie Mayfield of Missouri, and Sarah Elizabeth Jennings and her husband Captain Harley P. Jennings of Kempner, Texas. She is survived by her six great grandchildren Stephanie, John and Jessica of Washington State; James Doyle and Nathaniel Kent Mayfield of Missouri, and Addison Kay Jennings of Texas; a special friend Lisa M. Lukawski; numerous nieces, nephews and loving friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 30th from 6-8:00 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home in Virginia Beach. Services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. the funeral home with internment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Flowers may be sent to Altmeyer Funeral Home or donations can be made to Tidewater Primitive Baptist Church, 5848 Bartee St. Norfolk, VA, 23502.
