Ada Mae Rogers
Chesapeake – Ada Mae Crowder Rogers, 87, of Sparrow Rd., passed away December 6, 2008 at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center following a prolonged stay at Sentara Nursing Center in Chesapeake. Born in Washington, D.C. on December 8, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Norman Edward and Elvira Katherine Crowder. Mae was a long time member of Elizabeth River Baptist Church in Chesapeake.
Mae leaves behind to cherish her memory her three daugthters, Janet Perry Green and her husband Jerry of Lee’s Summit, MO, Norma Perry Brinson of Chesapeake, and Dorothy Perry Garcia of Colonial Heights, VA; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, James A. Perry; her second husband of 26 years, Sherman S. Rogers; her sister, Katherine Crowder Gurganus; her brother, Norman E. Crowder, Jr. and sister-in-law, Mary Eileen Jones Crowder.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 11, 2008, at Elizabeth River Baptist Church, 601 N. Sparrow Rd in Chesapeake, with Deacon Robert Wells officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Rd in Virginia Beach. Condolences may be offered to the family at altmeyer.com.
